Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered at the following high schools:

  • Auburn Drive High School
  • Bay View High School
  • Dartmouth High School
  • JL Ilsley High School
  • Lockview High School
  • Millwood High School

AP courses follow guidelines developed and published by the College Board. The College Board is a not-for-profit membership association whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity. The Advanced Placement Program is one of its best known programs. AP provides students with the opportunity to take one or more university-level courses while in high school. Each course covers the breadth of information, skills and assignments found in the corresponding university course.

AP is accepted by more than 3600 universities and colleges worldwide for credit, advanced placement or both on the basis of successful AP exam grades. To get the most current information on a specific university'’s AP course recognition policy, contact the registrar'’s office and/or the department of the university that you are interested in attending.

The College Board has a number of publications which provide detailed information about the AP program. For more information about Advanced Placement:
