JL Ilsley High School will re-open on Friday, February 27. Astral Drive Junior High, Five Bridges Junior High,
Beechville-Lakeside-Timberlea Senior Elementary and St. Catherine's Elementary will remain closed until Monday, March 2.
Here is an update on each school:
JL Ilsley High School
- School will be open Friday, February 27
- Roof drains have been cleared and contractors continue to work on ice removal
- Currently there are no roof leaks
- Interior finishes have been replaced
- Cleaning is ongoing and be completed before school reopens
- Air samples have been taken - Results
Astral Drive Junior High
- School will remain closed until Monday, March 2
- Some repairs have been completed but work continues to fix all the leaks
- Snow and ice is being removed from the roof
- All damaged interior finishes such tiles, ceiling tiles and gyproc will be replaced
- Air quality sampling by a consultant to ensure remediation is complete will be conducted over the weekend - Results
- Staff has been assigned to an alternate location
St. Catherine's Elementary School
- School will remain closed until Monday, March 2
- Most leaks have been stopped (gym is still leaking)
- Snow and ice is being removed from the roof
- Roof drains have been opened
- All damaged interior finishes such tiles, ceiling tiles and gyproc are being replaced
- Air quality sampling by a consultant to ensure remediation is complete will be conducted over the weekend
- Staff has been assigned to alternate locations this week
Beechville-Lakeside-Timberlea Senior Elementary
- School will remain closed until Monday, March 2
- Leaks have been stopped and roof repairs continue
- Snow and ice is being removed from the roof
- All damaged interior finishes such tiles, ceiling tiles and gyproc are being removed and replaced (Monday, ceiling tiles will all be new and damaged floor tiles will be removed. Some floors will be new but others will be bare concrete, awaiting final replacement over March break)
- Air quality sampling by a consultant to ensure remediation is complete will be conducted over the weekend
- Staff has been assigned to alternate locations this week
Five Bridges Junior High School
- School will remain closed until Monday, March 2
- Leaks have been identified and are being repaired
- Roof drains have been cleared
- All damaged interior finishes such tiles, ceiling tiles and gyproc are being removed and replaced
- Air quality sampling by a consultant to ensure remediation is complete will be conducted over the weekend
- Staff will be assigned to an alternate location Friday
