Wright, Littlefair elected Chair and Vice-Chair; New members sworn in/affirmed

Dave Wright is the new chair of the Halifax Regional School Board (HRSB). Wright was elected by his fellow board members at the board’s annual general meeting on November 2. Wright, who represents Lower/Upper Sackville, was first elected to the HRSB in October 2012. He has twice served as the board’s vice-chair.

Following the election of chair, Cindy Littlefair, Peninsula South – Peninsula West – Armdale, was elected as the board’s vice-chair. This is Littlefair’s second term on the board. She had previously chaired the board’s Policy Development and Review Committee and the Ad Hoc Committee on Governance. Both the chair and vice-chair positions are for one year.

At the meeting, 10 individuals were either sworn in or affirmed by Chief Judge Pamela S. Williams as members of the board. They will serve a term until October 2020. The 10 members include:

As the final order of business, the board named four members to its Audit committee. Members include Bridget Boutilier, Nancy Jakeman, Linda MacKay and Gin Yee.

The next regular meeting of the board takes place on November 30 at 6 pm at the HRSB office, 33 Spectacle Lake Drive in Burnside.
