Adjustments are made to bus routes and schedules every year as student enrolments and system requirements change.
For these reasons, it is recommended that parents/guardians confirm transportation information for their children every year.
All students who live 3.6 km or more from their school are eligible to receive busing. In addition, all students in Grades Primary to Six are eligible for busing if they live 2.4 km or more from their school.
Students who live closer than these distances are only eligible for transportation in limited circumstances.
For the 2017-2018 school year, there are two operational changes that will impact school bus routes:
- Changes have been made to bus routes where necessary to ensure all students arrive at school within the supervisory period (20 minutes before school starts).
- Some changes have been made to accommodate one dismissal at elementary schools.
Impact to Courtesy Busing
Courtesy busing may be available to students within the walk zone when there are seats available on the bus.
If you have received courtesy busing in the past, families should confirm that the service is still available this year, as a number of route adjustments have resulted in reduced courtesy busing system-wide.
Due to the new combined dismissal for elementary school students, the requirement for the number of routes has been reduced in some cases. That means the number of courtesy seats available may also have been reduced.
Please confirm eligibility, stop times and locations here .
If parents/guardians have questions or concerns about the availability of courtesy seats for this year, please contact Stock Transportation at 902-481-8400.
