Welcome Back, Families!

September 3, 2021
Families,

We are ready (and so excited) to welcome your children back to school next week – all 53,000 of them!

The 2021-22 school year is shaping up to be a promising year of re-connection, opportunity and discovery.

After a year and a half of great uncertainty, students and staff are returning to a school environment this September that will feel much more familiar. The following core public health measures will remain in place:

  • staying home if feeling sick;
  • frequent hand hygiene; and
  • sanitizing of high-touch surfaces.
And don’t forget the mask! To begin the school year, all students and staff must wear a non-medical face mask in school and when riding the bus. When the Province enters Phase 5 of the reopening plan, masking will be revisited. To review Nova Scotia’s Back to School: Living with COVID-19 plan, click here.

As always, we will continue to follow the advice and direction of Public Health. Should any of these measures change, we will email you directly.

The first day of school: what you need to know

  • The first day of school is Tuesday, September 7. There are a few exceptions listed here
  • If your child walks, cycles or gets a drive, check bell times on their school’s website.
  • If your child takes the bus, please review their bus stop times and locations through BusPlanner’s Parent Portal.
  • Students who ride the bus should arrive to their stops 10 minutes early.
  • Expect some bus delays for the first few days! Everyone is adjusting to new fall routines.
  • Take photos – no matter what grade(s) your child(ren) are in. Time flies!
