Welcome Summer!

June 30, 2022
We’ve made it to the end of the 2021-22 school year – and what a year it’s been…
Thank you, once again, for your continued support through yet another pandemic school year. Even though COVID presented challenges, I know that students grew as readers, explorers, thinkers and problem-solvers. They became mathematicians and scientists. They discovered. And they learned the critical life skill of resilience, by living through the many ups and downs of a global pandemic.
I am excited and hopeful for what next year will bring!
As you head into summer, here are a few things we would like you to know:
  • Student Registration
Are you moving this summer? Looking to sign up for Pre-Primary? Know someone who is new to our school system? We are accepting registrations for Pre-Primary through Grade 12 online starting on July 1. You can find more information at If you need assistance with registration, our Parent Navigators are available to help.
  • Summer Support for Families
Our SchoolsPlus Team is available throughout the summer months to support students and families. Click here for contact information by school. Support is free and confidential.
  • Student Transportation
If your child is eligible for busing, you will be able to view their 2022-23 schedule in BusPlanner’s Parent Portal at the end of July. An email notification will be sent as a reminder. If you need support or have any questions, please call 902-431-4723 or email
  • PowerSchool
As we update systems for the coming year, PowerSchool will be offline as of July 4. It will reopen to students and parents/guardians on September 1, 2022.
  • School Calendar
The first day of school for students will be Wednesday, September 7, 2022. For more important dates in 2022-23, click here
  • Connect with us!

Finally, to our families with graduates: congratulations on a remarkable journey. I wish you and your graduate all the best as they move out of our system and on to great things. Having you as partners in your child’s learning has been our privilege.
And now, it is time for summer! I wish you health, happiness and all the fun that the season brings.
With thanks,

Elwin LeRoux
