On April 13, 2021, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development announced that the Nova Scotia government and the federal government created a $7 million outdoor learning fund for all public elementary schools in the province.
The fund will allow schools to enhance existing outdoor learning spaces or create new ones. Click here to read the news release.
HRCE will use this funding to enhance/create outdoor learning spaces at 90 elementary schools.
In March 2021, the Province of Nova Scotia and the Government of Canada announced an investment of more than $24 million to construct modular classrooms at five HRCE schools to address current and future enrollment pressures. The modular classrooms were built in time for school opening in September 2021 and replaced many portable classrooms in use.
