We are excited to welcome three individuals who began their new roles as Parent Navigators in mid-October. They will work closely with other school and community-based agencies to provide students and families with information about supports and services that are available to them as well as how to access them. Essentially, the Parent Navigators provide another avenue of support for families. As always, the first step that families should take when looking for any support is to contact their child’s teacher, as many supports can be accessed at the school level. The next step is to contact the school principal. If families require specific information about a support or service for their child, they may contact the Parent Navigator assigned to their family of schools, who will put them in touch with the right person. Find a list of each family of schools here. The priority of the Parent Navigator is to help families navigate the supports and services available to their child – within the HRCE and with outside agencies.
