View Parent/Guardian Concern Protocol DECEMBER 2018 VOL. 4 Halifax Regional Arts Africentric Math Cohort How did the season of giving start early for students at Joseph Howe Elementary School? On November 27, all 315 students (including the two pre-primary classes and the HDCEL daycare in the building) received a brand new winter coat thanks to the organization Operation Warm. The US-based charitable organization’s mission is to provide warmth, confidence and hope to children through the gift of winter coats. It has distributed three million winter coats since the program began in 1998. Joseph Howe Elementary is only the third school in Canada to receive the gift from Operation Warm! It all began with an out-of-the-blue phone call to the school’s principal. What did this gift mean to Joseph Howe students? Find out in the above video. Special thanks to Operation Warm and the volunteers from FedEx who made sure each child’s coat fit just right. www.hrce.ca Carpentry Competition Inside: Students from Joseph Howe Elementary School show off their new winter coats!
