4 Human Resources Notes What’s the best part about university graduation season? Our new hires! We are excited to welcome 90 new teachers to our substitute pool! Our newest hires are recent Bachelor of Education graduates from Acadia University, Cape Breton University, Mount Saint Vincent University, Université Sainte-Anne and St. FX University. Congratulations! Immediately following convocation at Mount Saint Vincent, we received paperwork from 48 graduates! The following business day, 44 of those had logged into AESOP and were looking for substitute teacher assignments. You can’t beat that turnaround time! Staffing for the 2019-20 school year has begun. The NSTU job posting rounds for permanent teachers took place on May 15 with over 350 job postings in the first round. Second round postings go live on May 30 at 4:00 p.m. Stay in the know on all postings by checking Careers at HRCE on a regular basis at www.myhrce.ca Fine Dining at Cavs Café 204 Interested in a fine dining experience over lunch? Visit the Cavs Café 204! Every Tuesday between 10:00 a.m. and noon, Learning Centre students at Cole Harbour District High School showcase their culinary talents and practice their new found life skills in a real-world setting. Cavs Café 204 offers freshly prepared home cooked meals – complete with dessert – and is open to students, staff, families and community members. The café is entirely student-led: they plan the menus, shop for ingredients, prepare the meals, serve customers and clean up. The purpose of the weekly café is to provide students with opportunities to build self-awareness, self-confidence and valuable life skills they can draw upon as they transition from high school to community. What does this experience mean for students? Find out in this video.
