CUPE Job Action: Update for Families
The following was sent to all HRCE staff and families on October 23, 2026.
Families,
As of now, CUPE has not yet submitted the required 48 hours’ notice to initiate a legal labour disruption. This means all HRCE schools will operate as usual on Monday, October 26, and Tuesday, October 27.
While we are pleased that CUPE has not initiated a labour disruption, the union could provide 48 hours’ notice of a strike at any time. Out of an abundance of caution, our schools continue to develop contingency plans, so staff are prepared to respond if needed.
HRCE remains committed to supporting the collective bargaining process. We hope discussions will resume and lead to a settlement that avoids job action and disruption for students, families, teachers, and school staff.
We will continue to share updates about the collective bargaining process and ensure families and school staff are informed of any potential disruptions to our school communities.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
